Here are a few basic requirements to follow when sending files to the printing house. Adhering to these guidelines ensures shorter processing and response times and aims to streamline the file-processing workflow. Additionally, by following these requirements, you ensure that there will be no changes to the costs presented in the price quote, which includes graphic services.
General Instructions:
- Files can be uploaded directly to our server at ftp.everest.ro (to connect to the FTP server, your contact person at Everest Printing House will provide you with a username and password);
- If any errors or discrepancies are found between the files and the order, the client will be notified and additional information will be requested to clarify the situation;
- The print approval (Good for Print) is granted only on the proof made at Everest Printing House, on the printing sheet from the printing machine, and on the PDF files uploaded to ftp.everest.ro/pt_BT/nr_comanda (in this case, you will reply to the email received from prepress@everest.ro, which must contain the production sheet number).
When preparing the final documents, please consider the following:
• We recommend sending the files to Everest Printing House in PDF format;
• Sending file types other than PDF will involve additional processing time;
• The final PDF files must be delivered in CMYK format without an assigned ICC profile;
• For publications with multiple pages, 2 documents should be sent:
- Covers: Cover 1, Cover 2, Cover 3, Cover 4;
- Interior (containing as many pages as the publication has) in the order: Page1, Page2, Page3, etc.
• Bitmap or vector objects defined in RGB format or with an assigned ICC profile are not recommended;
• The correct document format is the raw format (raw format = finished format + 5mm symmetrical bleed);
• No objects should be defined with overprint attributes;
• Pantone colors will be used in the document only if they are printed with those colors; otherwise, they will be converted to CMYK format;
• The trimbox must be correctly defined in the PDF document (this is the finished format of the document that will be considered for printing);
• No graphic elements (text, logo, etc.) should be positioned in the margins area of the document; the recommended minimum size of the margins is 3 mm;
• For text smaller than 7pt, using CMYK colors should be avoided; we recommend 100% black;
• Total ink should be a maximum of 280%;
• Image resolution must be at least 300 dpi, mandatorily in CMYK; we do not recommend using a resolution higher than 500 dpi;
• Do not use crop marks; if you decide to use them, they must have an offset of 5mm from the document’s finished dimensions;
• Proofs executed outside of Everest Printing House are not accepted as print proofs; they can only serve a consultative role;
• No changes or corrections made to proofs are accepted. If any content changes are made after the proof is produced, it must be redone;
• Elements for die-cutting should be created with special colors defined with overprint, named knife, crease, or perforation, and should be designed in vector format;
• Elements for embellishment should be created with special colors defined with overprint, named selective varnish, emboss, blind stamp, foil, etc., and should be designed in vector format.
